An Afternoon of Afternoon Tea & Art

Rhino Image Small

Join us on Sunday 8 November 2015 for an Afternoon of sumptuous Afternoon Tea and alluring Art by Steven Shaw & Melanie Tomlinson.

Add a little culture and exotic temptation to your afternoon indulgence as glittering brooches land on your lapels and wild beasts from the widest savannahs languish from their easels in easy contemplation.

From 12 noon until the teapot runs dry at 5pm, you can enjoy the added allure and charismatic talent of two local creatives. Melanie Tomlinson’s jewel like birds, bugs and butterflies will sparkle and shimmer, complimenting Steven Shaw’s vibrant paintings of animals from darkest Africa and pets to prize and pamper.

Inspired by wildlife from the jungle to the countryside, the lakes to the fireside, Steven’s work is immediately accessible. His keen attention to detail captures the spirit and unique character traits of each individual animal, drawing you into their story with their personality, vivid expressions and inquisitive looks.

Working with illustration and metal, Melanie creates vibrant and intensely detailed sculptures and three dimensional dioramas that reflect her deep love and passion for nature. The intense colours come from hand printing and coating the metal before cutting it into the shapes that make up her jewellery.

You will have the chance to talk to both Birmingham artists about their work.

For Steven, the animal is simply the star with his swans taking a principal role in Birmingham Royal Ballet’s forthcoming production of Swan Lake featuring in their social media campaign from 22 September.

Booking for Afternoon Tea is a must!
